Many contain high percentages of water and organic compounds that are the builing blocks for life as we know it.
Carbonaceous chondrites make up less than 5% of the chondrites that fall to Earth.

Iron
Consisting of nickel-iron alloys, the metal taken from these meteorites is known was one of the earliest sources of usable iron available to man.
About 5.7% of witnessed falls are Iron meteorites.

Stony-Iron
This meteorite type is a mixture of iron-nickel metal and silicate minerals. Stony-iron meteorites account for less then 1% of witnessed falls.
