It's sound very good to me also because it seems like to be as a back to the roots. I remenber that early transission in 1988-89 were used to happen just after the Arts Channel programming |

Hi,
I got an admin email saying that Landscape now is on satellite, and ArtChannel.info says:
Satellite: Eutelsat Eurobird 3
Orbital position: 33.0°E
Frequency: 11177.34 MHz
Polarization: Horizontal
Can I tune to this via my Sky SD box? If so, how?
The settings only seem to use GHz, and even when I tried the equivalent 11.17734 GHz, there's only room for 11.177.
So, is this new Landscape slot of any use to UK viewers? |

Hi Ampersand,
Eurobird 3 is a further 5 degrees further east than the clutch of Astra Sats
that Sky uses plus the Eutelsat birds as a rule tend to transmit on a lower
power than Astra's so even if you did tweek your Sky dish a bit to point
it in the right direction if you're using a mini-dish I suspect it wouldn't
see a usable signal, but I've not checked the sat specs so I could be
wrong.
For my own part I'm going to try and get the feed from 16e when the
weather clears a bit and I can get to re-align my 1meter "diy" ground
mount in the back garden<g>, no chance of 33e tooo many trees in the
way. I have had good signals from 16e in the past when I've found it!
I'm not moterised so I have to align the dish by hand and twiddle for
a maximum signal<g>.
Best Regards
Neil

Hi Neil,
my sat box uses a communal dish, so I won't be twiddling that about any time soon. Although if the roof was easily accessible, and I did do that (covertly), it'd be funny to see the reaction of people in the building when they turned on their TVs and all they could see was Landscape. |

give a look to this coverage map
http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/eb3_spotd.html
the corrispondace beteween EIRP (dBW) and Size (cm) seems to be a accurate and usually it is a little pessimistic so, there could be some lucky possibilty that a small 60cm disk could receive a 45 EIRP (dBW) stated signal. |

Okay guys, just to clarify a few reception points raised.
First of all, Art Channel via 33E on Eurobird 3, cannot be watched using a traditional SKY or SKY+ / SKY HD box as the FEC of the transmission at this position is 23600. Sky boxes are only capable of receiving transmissions with an FEC of 22000 or 27500 when manually tuned.
Further, if they are locked off from the default transponder on 28E where SKY is positioned, they can often tempramentally crash.
Art Channel is broadcasting at 16E on two frequencies.
On 11304H it shares its transponder with Jetix - broadcasting nightly from 2100hrs CET. This channel has an FEC of 30000 so yet again the FEC means it is not tunable with a SKY receiver.
Art Channel is now also available as a 24 hr feed on 16E at 12728 but again the FEC of 26050 means that if you are using a dedicated SKY box, you will not pick up the signal as you will not be able to tune in.
For viewers in the UK who want to view at 33E, a non-minidish of around 70-80cm will pick up the transmissions on the transponder. You will also need a multi-satellite receiver which is not a dedicated SKY receiver. Receivers start at around £39 from retailers such as Maplins or from internet retailers such as Wizard (www.wizardsatellites.co.uk).
For viewers in the UK who want to view 16E, a non mini-dish of around 80cm will be needed to up the transmissions on either transponder. This is because UK viewers will find it difficult due to the location of 13E (Hotbird) and 19.2E (Astra) near by. Eutelsat 16E is sometimes a difficult bird to pick up some frequencies.
Of reception I have seen so far, the bitrate on 11304H is poor at 16E, slightly better on 33E but best on the new 24 hour transponder at 16E.
I cannot say for viewers outside of the UK as location plays a big part in reception. Landscape is being played out at selective hour intervals both day and night so you have a good chance of catching both the old SD videos and also the new HD videos which have been coverted to SD for this transmission.
And remember, if you see one of the new video's you like and have an ipod - why not add the video to your collection by purchasing from the store and helping to support both the Landscape artists and Landscape too.
Kind regards

Yes, the classic symphonic pieces are generally some of the most popular pieces and instantly recognisable. Because of this, it was decided that the soft launch would consist predominantly of these pieces. Over a period of time and as the Landscape HD library increases, the HD videos and SD contemporary tracks will be introduced.
Remember, a lot of pan-European viewers (for example France, Luxembourg etc) will be getting their first taste of Landscape through these transmissions so it made sense to follow this route.
The next few months will be very interesting so keep watching this space!
regards

I've just set myself up a motorised dish and thanks to another forum, I was able to view landscape at 16E for the first time tonight. Fantastic to see it live again.
I've a 64cm motorised dish on the south coast of the UK and getting a good 81% signal strength and 70% signal quality. I've moved that channel to the number 1 spot on that satellite list.
The picture quality isn't bad at all. I've not seen any converted HD content yet. The older original film is showing its age a little these days but it is really fantastic to see somebody broadcasting Landscape again. _________________ Growing older is mandatory, Growing up is optional! |

Hi Barry
Landscape would like to broadcast again on Virgin either through On Demand or on a dedicated channel.
Best way of this happening is to write to Virgin requesting they take the content.
Cheers
