In a lot of interviews, Johnny said he doesn't like watching himself in his movies at all. I remember one where he mentioned Sweeney, and said he was a bit afraid to see what he looked like in the film, particularly the "younger Sweeney" in the "Barber and his Wife" part, and the scenes where he's shaving the Judge. 
I know quite a few "camera-shy" people like that, who just can't stand watching themselves onscreen . . . so I don't think he meant that he thought the film itself was awful. Hopefully, the makeup department didn't take it as an insult, though. |
