How about the following as a way of raising a bit of cash.
We set Ianmidlothian a target of attending 75 games, say, this season and if he does we pay a tenner (or whatever can be afforded). I'm sure Ianmidlothian will be up for it if we set him a challenging target (If you are not Ianmid, you will be having more nightmares - there are more Geoff Blockleys I could remind you of )
One of the reasons for this idea of raising money is that it is something that fans from other clubs could get involved with. A number of them follow Ianmidlothian's blog and I am certain they would be happy to contribute.
Are you up to the challenge Ianmidlothian or do you want more nightmares?
What do people think? Is this an idea we should get off the ground and get behind?

If you'll take Scottish bank notes, put us down for £30 to top up anything this Sponsorship idea raises ... that's if 'the big lad' is man enough to take up the challenge. _________________ 'MON HEARTS!!! |

I'm up for it, even if there aren't many people taking up the idea yet, if at all, any money raised for the SAVE THE TIGERS cause is worth pursuing.
The Boomtown Hearts have texted to say they are chasing up further sponsorship from other people in the Scottish Capital.
The stereotypical 'tight fisted Scotsmen' they ain't.
Just a shame some of them didn't arrive at Durham's ground until 5 to 5 yesterday!!!
Fred from Kirkby Town has started the ball rolling on the Tony Kempster forum (a veritable Non League Bible) and some of my mates on obscure little anorak forums will be posting details too, but I do appreciate we're all having to cut our cloth accordingly during the current recession and sponsoring people to 'Groundhop' might not be high on a lot of people's list of financial priorities.
A lapsed WTFC supporter (who still gets along occasionally) with a massive head who gets in the way of people taking photographs at football matches has pledged another tenner on behalf of the 'Retford Tigers' too.
To date, I've done 38 matches so far this season, but shift work, weekend work commitments and a very high chance of being made redundant early next year, might curtail my opportunities to get out and about so often for the rest of the season. But 75 games seems like an achievable target if I get my finger out.
Every little helps and there is no minimum or maximum limit as you raid your piggy banks.
If Tom stops buying hot dogs for a week and puts the money up I'm certain that would raise the coffers considerably.
BTW, Boomtown is the name used locally by the natives up there for the people's republic of Bonnyrigg, a charming little village ( Aye right! ) approx 8 miles to the south of Edinburgh.
Of course, this is just one way of raising money that won't actually bear any financial benefits for Worksop Town FC for a few months, so please support other functions and fund raising activities that will provide more immediate funds for the club too. _________________ WITH A ROCKSTEADY BEAT

Rob W AKA Ian M - Your mates in The Chase public house Bonnyrigg, have matched our £30 pledge so that's a total of £60 from Edinburgh now. So you don't have a say in the matter any more, get round those grounds ASAFP! _________________ 'MON HEARTS!!! |

Cheers to the people who have posted on this thread offering support and to those who have contacted me via text message, email or pm too, including the Worksop Guardian, very heart warming.
And ta very much to Fred (Kirkby Town) for posting details of this fund raising idea on the Tony Kempster website - the Non League Groundhoppers 'bible'
Extra boosts have also come in the shape of a Lincoln City fan donating a large portion of his programme collection for me to give to the Tigers Shop (whenever it's next open) and some kit sponsorship money from Hearts supporters over and above the pledges mentioned above.
BTW, Sophie Ellis Bextor Imp, be careful what you wish for mate _________________ WITH A ROCKSTEADY BEAT

Mr Ian Midlothian is on his travels tonight as he aims to get closer to his 75 games target. Tonight it is the Lincolnshire Intermediate Cup tie between Bottesford Town and Scotter United. Half Time score is 2-0 to Bottesford! |
