Blackwater just opened their Web Log today with a message:
http://www.friendsofblackwater.org/eagle_cam_blog07/
Amazing story and photos here from a fellow in Maryland.
Also, click on the National Geographic reference to see fish eagles defending their territory. Awesome! |

Taken from the site, posted by someone.
That is one we will be able to see chicks when they hatch.
There is also a great article about copulation and also white pine spray, why it is used.

Aline, re: the photos you posted last night. I looked at the photos before going to their blog and noticed that the clip said it was from the Osprey Cam. I was thinking to myself,
'funniest looking ospreys I ever saw!
then I went to the blog and saw that they were actually ON the osprey platform!
Interesting on the white pine that Stalmaster doesn't mention it as a parasite preventer.....more as a signal to others that the nest is occupied.

"01/21/07:
By comparing photos, we can see that in the last few weeks, the eagles have built a perimeter of sticks around the nest cup,
which will hold the eggs"

WAY TO GO, Emty! Thanks for catching such a wonderful shot......I think this pair have raised more than one previously so......let's hope all good results for Blackwater! Kind of got me "up" after such sad happenings at Tesoro. |

Going to above URL you will find updates about activities in the nest and other interesting eagle facts.
There are illustrations and today a small video is posted
And an interesting | Quote: | The parents will incubate the egg for approximately 32-36 days, although all of our previous eggs on
the Eagle Cam have hatched on the 35th or 36th day. This would put the hatch date at around February 28.
If the egg is late to hatch, then there is a chance it was infertile. | _________________ Aline
