I have finished a Beta Version of the Comment Maker so you can make comments easily for UMS 2.

You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?wght0rl0gd0

Just unrar the file in any folder. Once you finish the comment, copy it and then paste into the file you want to update (eg Punch2.txt).

These comments works with most UMS 2 comments files: Punches, Kicks, Clinch, Takedowns, Submissions, etc.

For further help, just comment here.

I am planning to integrate the comments' maker with the sim in future. Drop me your suggestions too.

Edit 10/Aug/2009: Updated the CommentMaker with a new version that fixes a minor bug with the counter moves code and the hit location.

I'm confused as to how the counters work, for example, I am creating a takedown from the clinch, I have selected "Takedown" for Counter 1, will the defending fighter attempt one of the takedowns from the clinch as a counter move or just a regular takedown from the Takedown1.txt

And would failure usually be something neutral like a simple block and the counter be used to gain an advantages position?

For example, failure would be, "Fighter A attempts a trip from the clinch! Fighter B blocks it and they remain in the clinch."

And if the attacking fighter fails the attempt and the defending fighter counters that would be like, "Fighter A attempts a trip from the clinch! Fighter B blocks it and takes Fighter A down"?

As it works now, if you select Takedown in the counter move list it will perform a takedown from Takedown1.txt. If you select Clinch the sim will check the fighter strategies and decide if used punches, kicks or takedowns from the clinch.

Failure text will appear whenever the fighters fails the move. Then the counter attack will be checked.

Let's say we have the following comment:

%a1 tries a hook to the body;and hits %d2 ribs hard;but %d2 manages to dodge it;...

If the attacking fighters fails the move the text will be

Quote:

FighterA tries a hook to the body
but FighterB manages to dodge it;

In your example, if the FighterB can make a takedown as a counter the text would be:

Quote:

FighterA tries a hook to the body
but FighterB manages to dodge it;
FighterB fakes a punch and shoots a takedown!

If I wanted to make an armbar from mount that has a 50% chance of causing a reversal when it fails, what numbers should I use?

This not work exactly that way. You can make a mounted armbar that cause a reversal if fails and there is no counter move.

I would do it making an armbar with counter moves = ground moves (the bottom fighter will try to improve his position) or selecting no counter for the move and then selecting the reversal position for the position after move failure.

Also, could you make like a full tut. video or thread on this, because it's all abit confusing for me...

I have uploaded a new version of the CommentMaker as there was a problem with the location and the comment ouput. It's fixed now. You should download it again and overwrite the old version.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

The link is in the opening post.

Two things I noticed about the comments. I think I might make some if I have time, BTW.

I had Frankie Edgar and Hermes Franca fighting. Frankie got mount really easily....I don't think that's realistic but it could be a flaw in the ratings. Also, Frankie from mount position would leap and throw punches. I don't think that's possible Razz

Quote:
Edgar tries to take Hermes Franca to the ground from the clinch...
Nicely done! Franca is with is back on the ground now.
Frank Edgar is in open guard over Franca
Edgar tries to move to full mount
Edgar succeeds
Frank Edgar is in full mount over Hermes Franca
Frank Edgar want to finish his opponent in the ground
Edgar leaps and drills Hermes Franca's face with a huge right hand! What impact!

Also Frankie, from mount position, stood up way too quickly. I don't think anyone who has the mount position will stand up. Especially if they had to work for it.

Quote:
Hermes Franca loses balance and goes to the ground.
Frank Edgar is in side mount over Hermes Franca
Frank Edgar tries to open Franca's guard...
Great bombs from the top by Frank Edgar. Franca is unable to cover himself now!
Franca's Forehead is bruised after the punishement he's receiving!
Franca has a small cut in his Forehead
Frank Edgar is in side mount over Hermes Franca
Edgar tries to free his leg...
He moves to side mount!
Frank Edgar is in side mount over Hermes Franca
Frank Edgar push Franca's leg and tries to move to full mount.
Nice move by Edgar who is on full mount! Franca is in trouble now!
Frank Edgar is in full mount over Hermes Franca
Edgar tries to stand up!
he is now on his feet

Yes, it seems that both comments are a little unfeasible. I¡ll try to fix them. Thanks.
